Mt Pleasant Clear Prescut Candlestick

$8.00

Mt. Pleasant, also known as Double Shield, was produced by L.E. Smith from the 1920s-1934. This No. 627 double candlestick was produced later, in the 1950s. It is a variation of the earlier No. 600 version of the 1930s in that it has American Prescut detail on the interior of the base, while the “shield” or upper portion, is plain. This could be due to worn molds, as some examples found have the original detailing of the earlier version. This crystal (clear) candlestick measures 4 1/2″ high with a 5 1/4″ arm spread and stands on an oval base measuring 5 3/4″ long and 2 3/4″ wide. It has two tiny fleabites in the top rim underside of one cup, but has no other chips or cracks. This would be a great addition to both Mt. Pleasant and Early American Prescut collections.
