Viking Glass Long-Tailed Bird Teaberry
Viking Glass first introduced the Long-tailed birds in late 1961. They were made in two styles, the hard to find #1310, and the widely produced #1311. The difference between the two is not in the length of the tails, which one would think, but in the size of the bases. The #1310 variation has a base that is always very close to 3″ in diameter, while the #1311 has a base very close to 2 1/2″ in diameter. The #1310 also has a larger body, and can be taller, although the tails in both sizes vary greatly. This is the # 1311 bird in Teaberry, a new color in 1961 and made in only a few items. It measures 9 1/8″ tall, is 2 5/8″ wide, and the diameter of the base is 2 5/8″. The tip of the tail is smooth with no chips, an area that is prone to breakage, and is in overall excellent condition. A great find for your collection!
