Federal Madrid Recollection Amber

$8.00

The original Madrid pattern was made from 1932-39 in amber, green, crystal, iridescent, blue and pink. In 1976, Madrid was reissued in amber for the bicentennial, with each piece marked with a tiny 76. This amber is a darker shade than the original. When Federal Glass closed, Indiana Glass bought the molds, and began producing the pattern again in crystal, and then in pink.Later, teal and blue were added. This cup and saucer is from the Federal reissue, as the saucer is marked with the 76. It is easy to tell the old from the new when looking at how the handles on the cups are joined. The old are a teardrop shape, while the new are more rectangular. We have added photos of the old and new, and the differences in color and handle joining are easy to spot. The cup measures 2 3/8″ tall and is 3 5/8″ in diameter, with the saucer measuring 4 1/2″ across. It is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks or repairs.
