Vintage Chicken Salt and Pepper Shakers Japan

This delightful set of funky chicken salt and pepper shakers were probably made in the 1950s-60s. One is unmarked and one has a capital G marked on the underside in black. This mark is possibly Giftcraft, a Toronto, Canada importer of gift ware from all over the world, established in the 1940s and still in business today, with early items being mostly from Japan. Usually the G has a wreath around it, but this item may have been too small to add the wreath. They are a brightly colored pair, originally with cork stoppers, both now disintegrated. One measures 3 1/2″ tall and 2 1/2″ long with 3 holes in the chest. The other is 2 3/4″ long and 2 1/4″ tall, with 3 holes in the back. They are a great addition to your collection, sure to make you smile!
